Bernardo Batievsky

biography

The films “Cholo” and “Mirage” produced by Bernado Batievsky reflect the changes produced in Peruvian society that the sociologist José Matos Mar called the cholification process: a changing, diverse, complex, different country. These changes will be evidenced in greater depth during the government led by General Juan Velazco Alvarado (1968-1975), who implemented a series of structural changes such as the Agrarian Reform Law in 1969.

Bernardo Batievsky studied engineering at UCLA, but he took all of his elective courses in film school, his true passion. To realize his dream, he founded the company Procine S.A. in Peru where he begins financing cinematographic production such as “Cementerio de los Elefantes”, “Mosaico Limeño” and “Vía Satélite”.
